Team History
For the 2006-2007 season, the North Central Hockey Club
enters it's 33rd season. The team's territory includes North Central,
Broad Ripple, Pike, and Ben Davis High Schools, all of Boone County, as well as
parts of northern Center Township (Indianapolis). For a link to the
Hoosier High School Hockey Association's team assignments click

Prospective players in any of these schools are encouraged to try out for the
team. The current team's players come from North Central, Broad Ripple,
Park Tudor, Ben Davis, Carmel and Beech Grove.
The team started in the fall of 1974, with the Panthers
playing two seasons in the Ice Dome at 86th Street and Keystone Avenue, where
Keystone at the Crossing and the Fashion Mall are now located. The team
next called the Carmel Ice Skadium home until it moved to the State Fair Grounds
Coliseum in 1982. The Pepsi Coliseum remains the team's home ice and the
site of it's practices.
One of the things that sets the team apart is their
morning practice schedule. It takes a pretty tough competitor to be on the
ice starting practice at 5:15 a.m. on a week day. Parent's get kudos too!
The hockey program's mission is to provide high school age
players with a structured environment in which to enjoy the sport. The
club has an affiliate
Jr. Varsity
Hockey Program. North Central belongs to the Hoosier High School
Hockey Association. This competitive league includes teams from
Bloomington, Brebuf, Carmel, Cathedral/Chatard, Columbus, Hamilton Southeastern,
Lawrence and Perry High Schools. Links to these teams can be found
here.
The team was the State AA Tournament Champion in 1999 and
the AA Runners-up in 2001.
